VISION:
To inspire the next generation by connecting youth to tennis history, its legends, and the values of the game, while fostering skill development, personal growth, and a lifelong passion for the sport.
TeamFAME (Future Aces Modelling Excellence) is a National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) chapter launched by the International Tennis of Hall of Fame (ITHF) in Newport, Rhode Island in 2018. TeamFAME was created to address the needs of underserved youth while helping to fulfill the inspire pillar of the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Through more than 250 nonprofit youth development chapters, the NJTL network provides free or low-cost tennis and education programming to more than 160,000 under-resourced kids.
Year-Round Programs
Each school year, TeamFAME serves under-resourced students in Newport and surrounding communities in our after-school program. One-on-one tutoring, tennis programs, social and emotional lessons, and enrichment activities continue to keep these children, who are in great need, active, engaged and growing in their love of tennis and the character benefits it fosters.
After-School Program
Each school year, the Chris Evert Learning Center, located on the International Tennis Hall of Fame property, continues to serve as our learning center. Every Tuesday and Wednesday, 6th and 7th graders attend our after-school program in addition to 5th and 8th graders attending after-school on Thursdays and Fridays.
Summer Program
The summer of 2024 brought 8 weeks of fun filled sessions including mornings with a new group of rising 5th grade students and afternoons with rising 6th through 9th graders. Our TeamFAME graduates (rising 9th graders) were Coaches in Training assisting with the 5th grade morning sessions. 7 TeamFAME ambassadors (high school students) were employed at the Hall of Fame working in retail, grounds and operations crew, events, and more!
Tennis Outreach and Services
TeamFAME has expanded its reach into the community with its growing outreach program. Through our partnerships with local community organizations we have put racquets in the hands of more than 750 students throughout 2024!

Community Impact
With 68% of public middle school students in Newport at or below poverty level, our local community is in need of resources to support this under served population. TeamFAME students benefit from additional emotional support, daily routine, educational guidance, and nutritional balance.
TeamFAME provides a positive, fun, and nurturing environment with a focus on academic enrichment and physical fitness. Addressing these students' areas of need creates better performance in school and in life, which increase their chances for success.

Arthur Ashe
Arthur Ashe, Class of 1985 inductee, was a major founder of the National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) network. Ashe and his co-founders envisioned the NJTL as a way to reach young people and to use tennis as a platform to teach them important life lessons. This vision is the primary goal of TeamFAME.
