Letters to Greatness: Global Fan Tributes Reach the Class of 2026
Tennis greatness is defined by the profound, unbreakable bond between the stars on the court and the fans cheering from every corner of the globe. As we officially wrap up the International Tennis Hall of Fame’s 2026 Letters to Greatness program, that connection has never been clearer.
This year, the global tennis community rallied together to honor the Class of 2026 inductees, Roger Federer and Mary Carillo. We asked fans around the world to submit their own special message to the inductees. Thousands of fans from around the world submitted videos, digital messages, and even hand-written notes to the newest Hall of Famers.
A Journey Around the World
Letters to Greatness made its way to major stops across the tennis calendar, beginning in Melbourne and traveling to Indian Wells, Paris and London before ultimately finishing in Newport at the Induction Celebration.
On-site correspondents captured fans’ passionate reactions across social media at the Australian Open, Roland-Garros, and Wimbledon.
At the BNP Paribas Open, the Letters to Greatness booth on the tournament grounds hosted fans of all ages. Visitors recorded their own congratulatory messages and had the opportunity to view special memorabilia honoring the Class of 2026. The interactive exhibit gave attendees a personal way to celebrate the lasting impact both icons have had on the sport.
Over the coming months, additional submissions poured in online, from lifelong fans watching matches across time zones, young players inspired by Federer to pick up a racquet for the first time, and viewers who grew up with Carillo’s unmistakable voice framing the sport's defining moments.
Beyond just fans, fellow Hall of Famers and legends, current ATP and WTA stars, and close friends heeded the call, contributing their favorite memories of watching Roger and Mary's careers unfold up close.
