The Hall of Fame Open has awarded its first WTA main draw wildcards to former world No. 5 Genie Bouchard and American Christina McHale, while rising star Anna Frey has accepted a qualifying wild card.

“We are thrilled to welcome accomplished players like Genie Bouchard and Christina McHale, and rising star Anna Frey, to Newport,” said Brewer Rowe, Tournament Director. "Hosting the Hologic WTA Tour underscores the Hall of Fame’s commitment to equal opportunity, and we are dedicated to providing equal prize money to both the men’s and women’s draws. We’re looking forward to announcing more player commitments in the coming month.”

Bouchard, the 2014 Wimbledon singles finalist and a semifinalist at both the Australian Open and Roland-Garros, will return to the Hologic WTA for the first time since 2024. The Montreal native was part of Canada’s Billie Jean King Cup title squad in 2023, and has been named Tennis Canada’s Female Player of the Year four times. Bouchard is active on the professional pickleball circuit and provides commentary for Tennis Channel.

A former world No. 24 in singles, McHale has reached the third round of every major tournament during her career and is a two-time doubles champion on the Hologic WTA Tour. A New Jersey native, she is a two-time quarterfinalist in WTA 1000 tournaments, and has represented the United States in Billie Jean King Cup competition.

At 17 years old, Frey is a well-known influencer and has already made her mark on the Hologic WTA and ITF Tours with 21 singles wins. Last summer, the Salt Lake City native upset world No. 109 Tamara Korpatsch in the first round of qualifying and recently committed to play collegiately at the University of North Carolina in the Class of 2026.

The combined ATP Challenger and WTA 125 Hall of Fame Open is set to hit the grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame July 6-13, during the second week of Wimbledon. The Hall of Fame welcomes women’s professional tennis back to Newport for the first time since 1990, and equal prize money of $200,000 will be awarded to the ATP and WTA draws.

Hall of Fame Open tickets can be purchased at halloffameopen.com through Tixr, the Official Ticketing Partner of the ITHF, or by calling the tournament box office at (401) 849-6053. All ticketed fans receive unlimited access to the newly renovated museum, fan village activations and Horseshoe Court, where Wimbledon matches will be broadcast throughout the week. Fans can upgrade their Hall of Fame Open experience by adding on access to the 1881 Club, which offers complimentary food and beverage, with views for tennis action on the shaded Horseshoe Piazza.
