PLUS a panel discussion with sports photographers Amanda Cain, Jennifer Pottheiser and Shanna Lockwood.

In 1980, Carol Newsom made history, becoming the first woman granted credentials to photograph on Centre Court at Wimbledon. Throughout her award-winning career, Newsom documented both the women's and men's professional tennis circuits and events around the world. Her photographs were featured in numerous worldwide publications, including as a regular contributor to Tennis Week magazine. 

In commemoration of Women’s History Month the International Tennis Hall of Fame will feature the work of Newsom. A retrospective exhibition, titled Hit Me With Your Best Shot!, will showcase curated selections from Newsom’s full photographic archive.

About the Photographers

Amanda Cain, Manager of Photography for the San Jose Sharks

NHL’s First Black Female Team Photographer and graduate of Central Michigan University with a Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design, Amanda's style is eclectic, energetic, and personal, which encompasses music, sports, fitness, photojournalism, portraiture, and higher ed.

Her experience includes shooting events such as the Women's March, Black Lives Matter Protests, and the inauguration, which has developed her passion for recording history as it happens. 

Jennifer Pottheiser, Multidisciplinary Storyteller/ Producer

A graduate of Duke University with a degree in English and a minor in Film in Video, Jennifer photographs regularly across the globe for the National Basketball Association, United States Tennis Association, JP Morgan Chase, Walgreens, Gillette, and more.

She is most passionate about her non-profit work including volunteering for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Canine Companions for Independence and The Valerie Fund

Jennifer is also a partner at Drawbridge Digital and board member at The Doug Pensinger Photography Fund. 

Shanna Lockwood, Team Photographer for the Atlanta Falcons

A graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor’s in English and Master’s in Technical and Professional Communication, Shanna started her career as a digital media manager for USA TODAY. During her 6 years there she edited events onsite and remotely, including Olympics, Super Bowls, Final Fours, NBA Finals, and major PGA tournaments.

Shanna was the sole athletic photographer for 15 teams at Auburn University during the pandemic.
