Katrina Adams named Chairperson of ITHF Enshrinee Nominating Committee
Adams succeeds Stan Smith in the role of leading the committee that is responsible for development of the International Tennis Hall of Fame’s induction ballot.
Katrina Adams, an accomplished global tennis industry leader and former WTA player, has been named Chairperson of the International Tennis Hall of Fame’s Enshrinee Nominating Committee (ENC).
The ENC is responsible for determining which candidates are deserving of being put on the induction ballot for consideration by the voters, a significant step in the Hall of Fame’s multi-step induction process. Adams, who has served on the ENC for three years, succeeds Hall of Famer Stan Smith in the leadership role.

The Enshrinee Nominating Committee is an independent body comprised of tennis journalists, historians, Hall of Famers, and former players. It is charged with annual review of eligible Hall of Fame candidates to determine which are deserving of being put forth on the ballot for voters. Prior to the ENC’s work, nominations are submitted by the general public and then vetted by a sub-committee for eligibility in accordance with the ITHF’s Polices & Procedures of Enshrinement. Once the ENC determines the ballot of candidates, it is put to vote by the Official Voting Group and a Fan Vote. This vote then ultimately determines who will be the recipients of tennis’ ultimate honor – Hall of Fame induction.

Adams is an active and engaged leader across the global tennis community. In addition to her volunteer service to the Hall of Fame, she currently serves as Vice President on the board of the International Tennis Federation and is the Executive Director and President of the Harlem Junior Tennis and Education Program. From 2015 – 2018, she was the first African American to lead the United States Tennis Association (USTA), the first two term Chairman and President of the USTA and the first former player to serve in that role. Adams competed for 12 years on the WTA Tour, winning 20 career doubles titles and reaching the quarterfinals or better in doubles at all four Grand Slam events.
