Requirements to become a Hall of Famer

Induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame is the ultimate honor in tennis, representing the sum of a person’s achievements in the sport being among the greatest of all time.

The current tennis season has seen the conclusion of several extraordinary careers, notably Serena Williams, Roger Federer, and Ash Barty. The International Tennis Hall of Fame joins tennis fans around the globe in looking forward to celebrating their historic and inspiring careers.

Per the ITHF Policies & Procedures of Enshrinement, a player is eligible for consideration five years after they are no longer a significant factor on the ATP or WTA tour. Pending the determination by the Enshrinee Eligibility Committee as to the five-year time period for Serena Williams and Roger Federer, they will then be automatically included on the ballot for the determined year. Automatic ballot inclusion is extended to those players whose career results meet / exceed a set criteria of excellence. Detailed info HERE

Of note, Ash Barty, who also retired in 2022 has met the criteria for automatic ballot inclusion. She will be included on the Class of 2027 ballot, as her win in the 2022 Australian Open signifies that she was a factor on the WTA Tour this year.
