Three star-studded days starts this Thursday!
3 Star-Studded Days. One Legendary Weekend. Get ready for an unforgettable experience at the International Tennis Hall of Fame's Induction Celebration; completely reimagined and packed with exciting festivities surrounding the induction of Maria Sharapova and Bob and Mike Bryan.
The International Tennis Hall of Fame's Induction Celebration is an unforgettable, three-day experience featuring a variety of events surrounding the induction of Maria Sharapova and Bob and Mike Bryan. The entire weekend offers a unique chance to get up close and personal with the sport and legends of the game. Whether you’re a seasoned fan ready to watch your favorite Hall of Famers hit the court or a tourist in town for a beautiful seaside weekend, here’s why you should add the Induction Celebration to your plans.
If you’re looking to show off your skills
If you’re looking to bump shoulders with legends
Newport is home to tennis’ only worldwide Hall of Fame, so you know there will be plenty of star power on hand to welcome Maria Sharapova and Bob and Mike Bryan as the newest inductees.
Legends take the court once more during Friday’s Hall of Fame Celebrity Pro Classic presented by Fidelity Investments. See Andy Roddick, Kim Clijsters, Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario, the Bryan Brothers and James Blake step on the Hall of Fame’s stadium grass court. It’s a round-robin doubles spectacular, complete with a reunion of the U.S.’s 2007 Davis Cup title team.
Show us your game – on a variety of surfaces – with our skills challenges.
On Thursday, head down to The Tennis Wave at Bowen’s Wharf presented by 11th Hour Racing, where the Hall of Fame Tennis Club professionals will get you on our pop-up waterfont hard court. Practice the Class of 2025’s signature shots, wow the crowd and see if you can walk away with a prize. You might even get to volley with a Hall of Famer.
Friday and Saturday serve up the chance to step on the Hall of Fame’s iconic grass courts in the Fame Fest, where you can try to return a serve from a pro, rally with your favorite wooden racquet and drop shot the day away. When you’re ready for something new, we’ve got plenty of lawn games to wind down.
Three tennis podcasts are set to bring their insightful chats with live recordings to Newport:
The TennisWorthy Podcast with Patrick McEnroe will host the legendary Chris Evert for a chat on Friday in the Fame Fest fan zone
Served with Andy Roddick and Jon Wertheim will headline Saturday afternoon on the Hall of Fame induction stage
Love All with Kim Clijsters is set for right after, in the Fame Fest
What’s more, Q&As with even more Hall of Famers are on the schedule throughout Friday and Saturday. Cap it all off by watching the Class of 2025 Induction Ceremony just steps away from the stage on Saturday at 6pm in the Fame Fest village.
If you’re looking for culture and cuisine
If you want Newport at its finest, with or without the racquets, the Induction Celebration is bringing more than just professional tennis players to town. Joining the legends in Friday’s Hall of Fame Celebrity Pro Classic are three familiar faces in Angela Kinsey from The Office, Emmy Award winner and Boston native Uzo Aduba and podcaster extraordinaire Hannah Berner. They might be best known for their roles on TV, but trust us, they are all passionate tennis fanatics with well-tuned forehands.
Bites and bars are ready to serve up Rhode Island’s best, including a food truck festival in the Fame Fest. We’ve teamed up with PVD Food Truck Events to bring Blount’s Clam Shack, Alaina’s, Friskie Fries and more to our Memorial Boulevard village. Sip signature cocktails from Casamigos, Silent Pool gin, and sip in style at Stella Artois’ 360 bar.
If you’re looking for fun for the whole family
Parents fear not – we can help keep the kids occupied too. Passport to Greatness is kids’ ticket to adventure during the Induction Celebration.
On Friday and Saturday, kids age 12 and under are admitted free to the Fame Fest village, with plenty of tennis-themed activities for the whole family on the schedule.
A youth-oriented engagement activity open to all in attendance, kids can pick up their Passport to Greatness at the Fame Fest gates. The Passport booklets offer participants a commemorative piece to jot down questions for Hall of Famers, collect autographs and stamps for every completed activity.
By completing all the challenges and collecting stamps, participating kids can claim a special prize by showing their Passport at the Hall of Fame merchandise tent.
Whatever, just get me outside!
Can do – everything on the Induction Celebration schedule is outdoors in town or on our gorgeous grounds, located on Bellevue Avenue in the heart of Newport’s historical district.
When you need a break from the sun, the newly renovated museum is a great place to cool off, and included with your ticket. Explore tennis history through the decades and maybe even learn something new.
Check out everything on the schedule from August 21-23, secure your tickets and we’ll see you at the celebrations!
