VIJAY AMRITRAJ PRESENTED WITH HALL OF FAME RING IN LONDON

Surrounded by friends, Hall of Famer Vijay Amritraj was presented with his official Hall of Fame ring at a special ceremony in London hosted by the Leela Palaces Hotels and Resorts on June 27, 2025.
The Hall of Fame rings are one-of-a-kind pieces that are presented to Hall of Famers at a later date after induction. Hall of Famers choose events and locations around the world to commemorate their recognition as being among the sport’s greatest champions and contributors.
“Vijay Amritraj is a trailblazer, not only in the sport of tennis but in his home nation of India,” said McEnroe. “He personifies class, and contributing to our sport not only with skills on court but the passion needed to grow the game in India and beyond. We are honored to recognize him here today with is Hall of Fame Ring.”

In July 2024, Amritraj became the first Indian man to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in the Contributor Category. One of the first top tennis players from Asia, Amritraj has been a trailblazer and inspiration to multiple generations. As a globally recognized athlete from the 1970s and 80s, Amritraj leveraged his tennis success to popularize the sport in India and Asia. A key player in India's Davis Cup team, he notably participated in the 1974 boycott against South Africa to protest Apartheid.
Post-retirement, Amritraj became a prominent tennis broadcaster in Asia and the Middle East and has worked to expand professional tennis in India, including the upcoming WTA 250 Chennai Open. He is also a dedicated humanitarian, serving as the first Indian United Nations Messenger of Peace in 2001, and through the Vijay Amritraj Foundation, which has supported education and basic needs in Indian communities since 2006.
