Curator's Corner: In the Museum with Guga Kuerten

Lauded in Brazil for his contributions to the sport of tennis and his philanthropic efforts, Gustavo "Guga" Kuerten’s incredible legacy will also be forever celebrated at the ITHF, where he was inducted as a Hall of Famer in 2012. Today, items representing some of the greatest moments of his storied career are among the 2,000 artifacts on display in the museum at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

Last month, the International Tennis Hall of Fame had a chance to catch up with one of our Global Ambassadors, Gustavo “Guga” Kuerten, in his native Brazil during Semana Guga Kuerten (Guga Kuerten Week) - the largest junior tennis event in the world. With 58,000 fans in attendance, a special exhibit that the ITHF created with Guga exposed crowds of tennis enthusiasts to the highlights of Kuerten's Hall of Fame career. During the week, Kuerten visited the exhibit and shared personal insight into his featured accomplishments.

Masaaki Morita honored with the Golden Achievement Award by ITHF and ITF


Mr. Masaaki Morita of Japan has been honored with the 2017 Golden Achievement Award, an annual honor given jointly by the International Tennis Hall of Fame and the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The award is presented annually to an individual who has made significant contributions internationally to tennis in the fields of administration, promotion, or education, and who has devoted long and outstanding service to the sport. Mr. Morita, a former executive at Sony, has been a leader in the development of Japanese tennis for many years.
