Tenacity Students Enjoy Tennis Day at 2017 Hall of Fame ITA Grass Court Invitational

Thirty-one students from Tenacity, a youth development organization that provides athletic, academic, and life skills development to young adults in Boston, visited the Newport campus for a tennis day unlike any other.

Mary Carillo Honored with Gene Scott Award

Esteemed sportscaster Mary Carillo was recently a guest of honor at the International Tennis Hall of Fame's Legends Ball, where she was the recipient of the Eugene L. Scott Award, given annually in memory of the late Hall of Famer. Of the honor, Carillo stated, "I'm particularly honored to receive the award bearing Gene Scott's name. There are few writers who I admired more than Gene Scott. I was captivated by his work. Gene loved this sport with clear eyes and he helped me to see tennis that way. I am deeply honored."

Kim Clijsters "Earned" Her Hall of Famer Ring

Five years after her last match at the US Open, four-time major champion Kim Clijsters was honored in a special presentation on court at the US Open in between matches on women's semifinals night. Hall of Fame President Stan Smith presented Clijsters with her ring, stating, "You can’t buy it. You got to earn it through blood, sweat, and tears, and that she certainly has."

Class of 2018 Candidates for Induction Announced!

Wimbledon champions Pat Cash and Michael Stich, along with Anders Jarryd and Tom Okker, who both won multiple doubles titles at Grand Slam tournaments, and Czech legend Helena Sukova, a 14-time major champion in doubles and mixed doubles, have been named candidates for induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2018.
