ATP World Tour Pros in Newport Enjoy Fourth of July Holiday
July 4, 2011 - To kick off the Independence Day holiday in Newport, Ivo Karlovic went all-American, throwing the first pitch at the Newport Gulls baseball game. It was the first pitch of the game and his first pitch ever - and it went right to the catcher! Earlier in the weekend, Alex Bogomolov, Jr. picked up a baseball glove as well, to kick things off for the Pawtucket Red Sox. After the game, ATP World Tour players in Newport celebrated Fourth of July with a casual cookout and some games on the lawn. Following the party, the group headed into downtown Newport where the tournament’s great friends and sponsor Active Sole, a very cool Newport shoe store, furnished all the players with a free pair of shoes.
