A chronic victim of poor health, Reggie Doherty was three years older than his brother Laurie but died nine years sooner at 38. Together they formed a dynasty for British tennis supremacy. Reggie won four consecutive Wimbledon Singles Championships (1897-1900) before another Englishman, Arthur Gore, interrupted for one year. Then Laurie took over, wining five in a row on the lawns. Reggie formed an excellent doubles partnership with his brother, and they were a prodigious Davis Cup duo.
