An exceedingly generous woman who was interested in the growth and development of tennis as she was in a personal quest for success, Wagner was runner-up to Mary K. Browne at the 1914 U.S. Championships. The winner of six U.S. Indoor Singles titles and four more in Doubles, she was ranked among the top ten in the United States for nine years total, eight of them consecutively. Wagner found the right balance between the pursuit of her own interests and her larger goals for the game.
