The younger and more successful half of the legendary brothers of Great Britain, Laurie collected five Wimbledon Singles trophies and shared another eight in doubles with his brother. The winner of two Olympic gold medals, his sportsmanship was so impeccable that the Times of London wrote in an obituary: “He played an English game in a spirit in which Englishmen think games should be played.” Laurie held the distinction of never losing a match in Davis Cup competition.
