Fluent in two racquet sports, Kitty McKane Godfree was a versatile Englishwoman who managed to win the Wimbledon Singles Championship and the All England Badminton Championships in 1924. Victorious again at Wimbledon in the singles two years later, she secured the mixed doubles crown that year on the fabled grass courts with her husband Leslie. They are the only married couple in the history of the game to win the Wimbledon Mixed Doubles title. Thoughtful and resilient on the court, she was unfailingly congenial away from the arena.
