A man who devoted over half a century of his life to tennis and played the game recreationally into his mid-eighties, Myrick’s primary contributions were at the administrative level. Known as the “Elder Statesman” of the sport, his zeal for the game and distinguished service to it was invaluable during a period of burgeoning popularity for the sport around the world. Myrick was President of the USLTA at a vital stage of that organizations’ growth, when superstar American players Bill Tilden and Helen Wills Moody were transcending the game.
