Recognized primarily for his doubles prowess, Fred Alexander also did some excellent work on his own. In 1908, he established himself as the first foreign player to win the Australian Championships. In turn, he took the doubles with Alf Dunlop. A Princeton man, he was the U.S. Intercollegiate Champion in 1901. His doubles craftsmanship was beyond reproach.
