Tennis Staff
Mary Rompf, Head Professional
A successful junior and collegiate tennis player who went on to be ranked within the Top 100 in the world on the WTA Tour, Mary has served as the Head Teaching Professional at the Hall of Fame Tennis Clubs for more than 10 years. Mary is an active USTA competitor, often partnering with her daughter Marianne. She is a USPTA Certified Level 1 professional. Mary oversees the tennis teaching staff and teaches group, individual and junior tennis lessons. In May 2011, Mary was named USPTA New England Professional of the Year.
Drew Goldstein, Senior Staff Professional
Since joining the Hall of Fame Tennis Clubs teaching staff in 1998, Drew has taken a leadership role in the junior tennis program and has successfully coached the club to capture the sectional title in the 18-and-under division in 2009 and the 14-and-under division in 2008. Drew is a USPTA Certified Level 2 professional and played tennis at Union College. In addition to leading the junior tennis program, Drew also teaches adult group and individual lessons.
Tim Fayed, Assistant Pro & Stringer
A recent graduate of Stonehill College, Tim returns again this year as an Assistant Pro after playing for the men's tennis team at Stonehill College in Easton, MA. Tim comes from a successful tennis family background as his father is a USTA referee and has been a big influence on Tim’s success.
Laura Attley, Assistant Pro and Front Desk Staff
A cum laude graduate of Skidmore College earning a BA in mathematics and a minor in Exercise Science, Laura was co-captain and player on the women’s tennis team from 2006 to 2010. She is currently enrolled in Roger Williams University School of Law and is a candidate for a Juris Doctor in May, 2013. Laura has taught tennis and assisted tennis operations at Century Country Club in NY and Fairmont Country Club in NJ over the past 4 years.
Club Management Staff
Patrick Druken, General Manager
A lifelong Newporter, Patrick joined the Hall of Fame Tennis Clubs in 2010 to oversee all indoor and outdoor operations. Patrick is a member of an active tennis family - his five daughters all captained the Rogers High School tennis team. Patrick's background is in business management, and prior to this role, he served as a controller and general manager for companies including Waste Management and United Industrial Services. In addition, Patrick and his wife and are active within the Newport community, where they have operated a bed & breakfast for many years.
Gibby Harnett, Club Manager
Gibby joined the Hall of Fame Tennis Club staff in March 2012. He plays a key role in member development, indoor/outdoor court operations and tournament management. Prior to working at the Club, Gibby was the Auctions and Promotions Manager for the International Tennis Hall of Fame for three years. Gibby is a graduate of Elon University, where he studied Sports Management. An avid tennis fan himself, Gibby is looking forward to getting to know the members and having a great summer at the club!
Dave Cahoon, Croquet Professional
Dave shares his passion for croquet with visitors from around the world, working with the special events staff to host private croquet events at the Hall of Fame Outdoor Tennis Club. Dave has been a staff member at the tennis clubs since 1995, and when he's not playing croquet, he supports the Indoor Tennis Club in various operational areas.
Tom Cook, Stringer and Front Desk Staff
A life-long tennis enthusiast, Tom has been part of the Hall of Fame Tennis Club for more than 10 years. Tom takes an an active role in the tennis equipment and indoor court maintenance, and can often be found assisting with racquet stringing. In addition, Tom oversees the members’ seasonal court time reservation program and is an active member himself.
